Hey all, sorry it's been so long. So I guess it's time for an update! I'm back to the city I love, and finally got a job! It's somewhat of a bullshit job, as it has nothing to do with what I went to graduate school for. However, it is a bit creative as I get to do some custom design work-- personalized stationery, wedding invitations and such, so that part is fulfilling. And I get a pay check!
I hope you are all doing well, I will start visiting all you again soon, I need to catch up with how you all are doing. Here's a picture of some gorillas fighting. Enjoy.

Geminids meteor shower tonight!
It's time for one of the biggest meteor showers of the year! The showers should start to peak around 11 PM EST and should be visible until dawn, and it is estimated that we may see 50-80 meteors per hour, and at certain peaks up to 120 per hour!
From what I can gather from Wikipedia and NASA, it seems as though the Geminid meteor shower originates from an extinct comet known as 3200 Phaethon, while the radiant (or point where the meteors seem to originate from) seems to be in the constellation Gemini. However, the meteor shower should be visible across all of the night sky.
Where I am in Wisconsin, it is currently -2 degrees F, so while the sky is clear and perfect for viewing this spectacular light show, I will probably be able to bear the cold for only a short amount of time. Luckily, with today's technology, it is possible to not only watch tonight's meteor shower on a live video feed on NASA's website, but the website also features a live audio feed and questions about the shower will be answered via live web chat by NASA meteor experts. Click here to check out these live feeds!
I have listened to the live audio of this meteor shower a few times in the past hour or so, and so far it's hard to know what I'm hearing... so if you hear something distinct, let me know! The live chat starts around 11 PM EST and I'm a little curious to learn more about this phenomenon.
Enjoy the show!

Where should I get pierced?
Well, it's time for a new piercing.
Since I got my first tattoo, I haven't really been into piercings, but for awhile now, I've been feeling the itch to get a new one. Right now I have 8 piercings, 7 in my ear and 1 in my nose.
I'm going to have my friend and old roommate do the piercing for me. He has all the tools necessary and has done a number of piercings in the past, including his own nipples, so I feel comfortable with him doing it so long as we both are sober!
I'm thinking one of two options. Right now I've got one tragus piercing, and I'm thinking about piercing the tragus on my other ear. The other option is to pierce the anti-tragus which is probably what I'm leaning towards.
Any opinions or suggestions of other places to pierce?

To you, From Bob Marley
I've never really been a fan of Bob Marley and usually these kinds of quotes about love make me roll my eyes in annoyance. But, for some reason, I kind of like what he had to say here.
“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.”

Some art
I've been feeling pretty uncreative recently. A good friend of mine wants me to come out to stay with him for a week to create some new artwork. It might be a good idea as I haven't created anything new for a good while. In the meantime, here's some of my past work from undergrad and graduate school.

Well I solved the homeless problem
Not the world's homeless problem, but my own. Check out my previous post if you have no idea what I'm talking about:
http://arbitrarymusingsofanirrationalmind.blogspot.com/2010/11/i-will-be-homeless-in-8-days.html
I tried so hard to make it in the city on my own. When that failed, my boyfriend and his five roommates graciously let me move in with them for two months.
Tomorrow I will move back in with my parents in another state and I am heartbroken. I will find a temporary job, make some money, and move back to Chicago as soon as I can. I will miss the city and my friends in it.

Update: I am so thankful that I do have my parents to fall back on. I am just going to miss my friends. But I will make some $$ and move back soon. You all have been so encouraging. I really appreciate your comments.
Oh, my parents live in Wisconsin, so I'm not exactly getting a break from the harsh winter!

This is the best song ever
I think we all have this experience and it sucks. Sometimes I just want someone to experience what I experience when I listen to a certain song, but the song just doesn't have the same meaning for the other person. Some of the most intimate moments I have ever shared with another person have been when the two of us listen to the same song and for some reason the experience is almost spiritual. Maybe you've had this experience and can explain it more eloquently.
One song that comes to mind when I think about times in my life when I have connected deeply with another person over a song was "Oh Comely" by Neutral Milk Hotel. Are there any songs that you have connected with another person over? Or songs you wish others understood and loved the way you do?
Sorry that this is kind of a lazy post. I've been stuck the past few days as to what I should write about.
